108-Hour Anusara Yoga Immersion
With Christina Sell - Fall 2027 - Tru Yoga, Rochester, NY
What becomes possible when yoga is approached not simply as exercise, but as a lifelong path of study, practice, and discovery?
Have you ever wanted to learn more about yoga, only to discover that the primary path for deeper study seems to be a teacher training?
Perhaps you have no desire to teach. Perhaps you've already completed teacher training and are looking for an opportunity to expand your understanding without repeating the process. Or maybe you've simply reached a place in your practice where you recognize that there is more to yoga than you can explore in a weekly class.
In Fall 2027, Tru Yoga is delighted to welcome Christina Sell for a 108-Hour Anusara Yoga Immersion, an invitation to explore the art, science, and philosophy of yoga through sustained study, embodied practice, and shared inquiry.
This immersion is for those who have spent some time on the mat and find themselves increasingly curious about the practice beyond it. You don't need to know everything about yoga to participate, just enough familiarity to recognize that there's more you'd like to discover.
Anusara Yoga: Stepping Into a Greater Flow
The word Anusara comes from the Kularnava Tantra, where a beautiful passage describes the path of yoga:
"When the seeker steps into a greater flow, that very flow carries them."
This teaching offers a glimpse into the philosophical heart of Anusara Yoga. Our individual efforts matter, but those efforts can become magnified and empowered when we recognize our participation in something greater than ourselves.
Rooted in nondual Tantric philosophy, Anusara Yoga is a sophisticated, life-affirming system that brings together philosophical inquiry, biomechanical principles of alignment, and the cultivation of authentic community.
Rather than treating the physical and philosophical dimensions of yoga as separate pursuits, Anusara invites us to investigate their relationship. The body becomes a place to experience philosophical ideas, and those ideas, in turn, inform how we practice, move, and participate in the world.
Throughout this immersion, we will return to a central question: What does it mean to step into a greater flow?
The Course of Study
Through an integrated curriculum of philosophical inquiry, functional anatomy, alignment-based asana, pranayama, and meditation, participants will develop a more nuanced understanding of yoga and its application to both personal practice and everyday life.
Our studies will include foundational yogic teachings, the life-affirming philosophy of Anusara Yoga, principles of functional anatomy, biomechanics, and sustainable movement, and the sophisticated alignment methodology that distinguishes the Anusara system.
Introductory breathwork and meditation practices will complement our physical and philosophical studies, creating opportunities to explore steadiness, vitality, attention, and self-awareness.
The immersion is structured around four in-person, three-day intensives and four online integration sessions. The in-person gatherings provide dedicated time for experiential learning, meaningful dialogue, and sustained exploration. Between gatherings, online sessions will support the continued application and integration of the material into daily life and practice.
This is an opportunity to move beyond collecting information and toward developing a more intimate, practical, and embodied understanding of yoga.
Study with Christina Sell
Drawing on decades of experience as a Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher, Christina Sell brings exceptional depth, clarity, and practical intelligence to her teaching.
Her approach bridges precise biomechanical understanding with contemplative inquiry, demonstrating how the physical practice of yoga can become an expression of its philosophical foundations.
Christina's teaching combines intellectual rigor, practical clarity, and a genuine enthusiasm for inquiry, informed by decades of dedicated study, practice, and education.
Under her guidance, participants will have the opportunity to investigate foundational principles, refine their understanding of the body, ask meaningful questions, and discover new possibilities within a familiar practice.
The Power of Learning Together
As meditation teacher Paul Muller-Ortega reminds us:
"Consciousness, which tends to contract, expands when two or more are gathered for the purposes of transformation."
While individual practice remains essential, something remarkable becomes possible when we gather with others who share a willingness to study, question, and explore.
This immersion will emphasize foundational concepts and broad thematic perspectives while encouraging participants to cultivate their own understanding and authentic expression of the teachings.
Our shared inquiry will honor both the unity and diversity of the yoga community, recognizing that meaningful learning emerges through dialogue, reflection, and respectful exchange.
We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment grounded in mutual respect, intellectual curiosity, and an appreciation for the depth and integrity of yoga's traditions.
Who Is This Immersion For?
This immersion welcomes yoga students and teachers who are interested in deepening their relationship with the practice.
Whether you are hoping to reconnect with your enthusiasm for yoga, expand your understanding of anatomy and alignment, engage more meaningfully with yoga philosophy, or pursue further education as a teacher, this program offers a thoughtful and comprehensive foundation.
For teachers, the immersion also provides an opportunity to refine existing knowledge, broaden perspective, and establish a foundation for future Anusara Yoga certification.
You do not need to aspire to teach. You do not need to arrive with all the answers. You simply need a willingness to participate in the inquiry.
Because the study of yoga does not necessarily need to lead to a new title, a credential, or a career.
Sometimes, learning more about something you love is reason enough.
